The Local Area

Kirkby Stephen is a traditional market town a 10 minute drive from Argill Caravan park. The town has a range of pubs and restaurants including the Pennine Inn, Taggy Man as well as The Mango Tree Indian and Century Chinese restaurant/ takeaways. Brough is located around a 5 minute drive from Argill Caravan park. With a shop, fish & chip takeaway / restaurant and several pubs. In the neighbouring village, Church Brough, is an ice cream parlour and tea rooms set in Brough castle grounds.

Barnard Castle

With fantastic views over the Tees Gorge this fortress sits on the fringe of an attractive working market town, there is plenty to do for families on a day out.

Kirkby Stephen East

Kirkby Stephen East is a historic station and steam railway, opened in 1861, and now cared for by volunteers of the Stainmore Railway Company.

Settle to Carlisle

The Settle-Carlisle line is one of the UK’s most famous scenic rail routes, taking in 20 viaducts, 14 tunnels along its 72 mile track.

Hawes

Hawes has plenty of traditional shops and places to eat and is a great base to head out on a walk or cycle ride, as well as being home to the Dales Countryside Museum.

Rheged

Rheged is a gallery, café, cinema, shopping venue, workplace and creative space on the edge of the Northern Lakes.

Lowther Castle

Lowther Castle & Gardens is a stunning Lake District visitor attraction. Castle ruins, gardens, exhibition, huge adventure playground.

Swaledale

Swaledale is one of the most northerly of the dales and it has perhaps the wildest, most unspoilt scenery in the National Park.

Owen’s Farm Shop

Owen’s Farm Shop and cafe located at Sandwath, just outside of Kirkby Stephen. Selling high quality beef, lamb, pork and bacon as well as local products produced by local people.

Appleby Golf Club

Situated alongside the A66 with easy access East & West. Sitting on a bedrock of Sandstone, Appleby is free draining so is playable all year round.

Tan Hill Inn

The World Famous Tan Hill Inn is Britain’s highest public house at 1,732 feet (528m) above sea level. Situated in the stunning scenery of Swaledale, just near Keld.
